A downloadable game for Windows

Your best friend is the chosen one.
Soon, they will have to depart on a quest to save the Moon.

But it’s alright. You are not the Hero. No one expects anything from you.

Will you still take the journey?

✦ ✦ ✦

Moonlit Blessed is a game made in RPG Maker VX Ace for the RPG Maker 2025 Game Jam, with the theme "beyond expectations".
Accompany your best friend on their quest to bring the Moon back to the sky.

✦ FEATURES ✦

✦ Make your choices. Your decisions could affect the Hero and the success of the adventure!
✦ Around 25 hand-drawn pixel art CGs.
✦ More than 20k words of story, around 1 hour of playtime.
6 endings

Important: There is a scene select menu after any ending, but it has given a lot of trouble during development and I'm unsure if I managed to fix all of its bugs. I recommend making separate saves along the way to revisit different options until it's 100% confirmed fixed!

Hello, I just played this game and I was aiming to get all 6 endings. On my 4th ending, I went back straight to the prologue to get an ending there, but then all of my scene selection is now blank and I have to replay through the entire game. That honestly killed my motivation to be honest after spending so much repetition to seew if the crown did anything… ;_;

Hello! Thank you so much for playing Moonlit Blessed first of all!!

I'm so sorry that happened! If you have any other saves, you can try reloading from a previous one if it helps recover progress. The scene select has a warning to tell that the progress after the selected scene will be reset, but I can make it stand out more in a future update so accidents like this don't happen ;v;

If in another moment you want to give it another try, you can skip through the dialogue a bit faster by holding shift+z! If it helps too, at the moment the crown doesn't change much aside from the decision to choose who carries it. But in a future update, maybe something else might happen...?

(+1)

I somehow missed that it will reset progress. I had been staring at it for a while and I struggle to remember where it was placed.

About the skipping. Well, the thing is, I did do that but there are a lot of micropauses in almost every dialogue? I changed the FPS using Hime’s FPS Control to around 250 FPS just to get it to the Visual Novel skipping speed, but it still takes quite a while to get there. There’s also long segments of cutscenes before the dialogue I would be interested in.

I wish I knew the crown did nothing, I did exhaust every choice to get there. I am surprised how much importance it was given to it from the previous scene and it doesn’t affect anything. I was hoping it would reveal more about Dot too (aside from obvious connections).

That being said and I don’t want to come across as only being a negative nancy, I want to give praise to the atmosphere and music selection. It really felt like it’s evoking the Lord of the Rings vibe but still remaining cozy. I like the CGs a lot too. I like the use of Lunacy which is often associated with the moon.

If I have one major gripe though, I wish the character portraits didn’t have the almost exact same pose. That being facing the camera. It would’ve been nice if one of them had a slightly tilted pose like Dot. It was reaching uncanny vibes at some points because their expressions are very limited and sometimes too similar.

Great work for a one month jam game!

No worries at all, I appreciate the feedback a ton! Knowing what doesn't work well helps me know what to improve when I get to work on the post-jam update! I'm taking note of all of this.

Unfortunately with the time limit of one month I had to cut out some stuff, like the crown part or making more detailed sprites, so hopefully I can add everything properly in the future. :')

I'm glad you were able to enjoy part of it nonetheless! Thank you so much!!

pretty and immersive atmospheric game, loved the changing color of textbox, the overall color palette and art. story was really bittersweet, angst at times was in the way it got me crying over Temi lol and the best friend (forgot their default name;; ) such vicious cycle around the hero theme..

so far, i think i’ve got 4 ends as of yet (inluding the final/sixth one), but to get the other ends particularly starting from saving any guardian and the departure, it didn’t really work well currently through the Scene Select yeah because the scenes got skipped and jumped with only a black screen. sorry im a bit stuck like another commenter lol i couldn’t really got around it unless i reset/retry from beginning. i will be on the lookout for this and to get that seventh end!

also i think around here the pronoun switch was missed to custom since i picked ‘he/him’

So sorry for the late reply!! Thank you so much for playing!! ;v; I'm really honored that it was able to make you feel for the characters!!

About the bug with the black screen, is the version you have the newest version of the game? If it's the newest version, I'll check to see if I missed anything that could still bug the scene select screen.

Thank you so much for the typo report too!! I'll make sure to fix it when I'm able to update the game!

i did download the latest version, looked in the bugfix update devnote and found it the same version too.

no probs! take your time, what came to be was still pretty results and even better by the next update hehe, tis a chance for enjoying your other wonderful works:3

Just finished the game, and thoroughly enjoyed it! A perilous but also very sweet little game! Thank you for making it!

Out of curiosity, is there a "best" ending? If so, could you give any hints? I've gotten three bittersweet endings (4, 5, and 6), and then replayed it all taking several different choices, and towards the end got the same 3 endings again. I don't know if there's a better one or not, or what I'm doing wrong.

Thank you so much for playing!! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

At the moment, those are the only final endings! The other three can happen along the journey depending on the choices. I do have a 7th ending planned that I want to add, though! I didn't have time to add it to the game jam version, so it'll be coming in a future update along with more improvements :')

Awesome! Looking forward to it!

YOU MADE THE STAIRWAY?

(+2)

Yup!! The Stairway was the very first game I made! This year it's going to be its 10th anniversary, so I'm planning on doing something a bit related to it to celebrate :')

awwww that's awesome :DDD

Just going to post the video and review in a new one instead.

(Also has no commentary. For pure game audio connoisseurs I guess. )

I loved every single moment in this game. I guess it's an RPG trope, but this one is still pretty good, but yeah I guess, I can agree to the one person, that I could use more depth, but I still think there's some deepness in the characters at least. But man, every single pixel art in this game... I adore... instant chef's kiss. You really had passion in making on your games. From top to bottom, from ui, cgs, and characters. All of those are really variety, had alot of soul and emotion going through it, and one of the reasons I still think it has depth. Again, amazingly well done for this one. While story can be predicted, again, I still enjoyed it. And lastly, the scene select. I know from my comments, and others as well, it's a very rough one, but I think for the recent update, you really done a pretty good job in fixing it, as I was able to see the fabled current max out of current max ending found/seen.

Still, this is a blast to play. I can't wait to see the post jam update and see the true ending. (I do have ideas already on how to actually get it, even if it's not out yet.)

Again, thank you for a wonderful game, and might check more of your games in the future.

(+1)

My biggest thanks to you once again for playing it!! I'm honored that it was able to give such a good experience ;v; It's a big relief to hear the scene select works now too! I'll do my best to improve it as best as I can and give it the polish it deserves!!

(+1)

No worries! Still you did a good job fixing it through time. Just also take some breaks and don't overwork.

A nostalgic and heart-warming art style 🌼✨

So almost got all the endings.. except the 3rd I guess... um any hints? And uhh, yeah welp I guess it's already said, the scene select is very buggy, hence I don't think the 6/6 will be doable atm. Also when you select after the first guardian, it always plays the ending 2 trigger.... regardless of the choice, and if I try to select after the second guardian... uh the character is on the village, but you can't select any of the other places, and interacting goes to the mountain trigger instead. I also found another bug, on one save of mine I decided to somehow make the save all play the after the first guardian cutscene, which completely softlocks the game, and still shown all of the areas beaten. If you need the save of that happened, I can send the save file. I promise you, I just dunno how did that happened. I have a feeling it might be related to an ending trigger (likely 2), and in one choice I guess. For that save, all I selected was the do absolutely nothing choices

Still I enjoyed the game.... I might just wait a bit for now (and yep.... I already recorded a playthrough, but like it's going to be a lot of edits.)

Still, a pretty cool game and I enjoyed it! I will do a final review, after some painful things I guess. I also did check out one of your games before, that is still in development, and I enjoyed it as well.

Thank you so much for playing and for the bug report! I'm so sorry you had to bear with so many issues ;; I imagine the reason for the ending 2 happening every time might be that if you restart from that scene itself without redoing the first Guardian, the decisions necessary for it will have already happened, but I'll check if it happens even if that's not the case. Feel free to send me the save, that will definitely help fix all the issues!

Still, I'm glad you enjoyed the game!! And thank you for recording it! As for a hint for ending 3, during the first two guardians, try making decisions that don't align with the Hero's plans even if it's with good intentions.

Thank you so much for checking out more of my games too!! I'm glad you enjoyed it! :'D

EDIT: I updated the game with a hopefully fixed scene select menu! I recommend making a new save to avoid any conflicts, but it should be working better now if I didn't miss anything. :')

Alright, so I played the updated version, and after doing a legit ending 2 in a new save (like literally not on a bug this time), and hoping I can get the 6 out of 6 endings, this time and replayed a section.... I found a bug where the game considers 1 = 2 guardians saved, and played the after the second guardian, and just the normal and not an ending variation. I guess I'll just give up getting that for now just have to wait for the post jam version (which is I guess going to be 7 out of 7 now) instead, but I'll still reply with the playthrough video later, and my review on it. I can understand you worked really hard on the scene select, and I applaud you for that (I can see how much nightmare see you working on it.) It's an interesting thing to see tbh, and I like games as well that you can just select certain scenarios. Just for now, it creates a lot of frustrating things and just makes a lot of like trying to brute force.

And one final thing I tried, well before all of this, is to load a previous
version save file, and yeah, I guess you really have to make a new
file, as the other bugs from the previous version from trying to load.. are still present (the black screen bug said by someone is still there.)

Still, yeah that's my findings on playing the new update.
Well, definitely the next update might need more than just after a postjam.

(+1)

Thank you so so much for trying the updated version!! I really appreciate it a ton. ;v;

I added one final small fix, I'm not sure if it will completely solve it, but hopefully it does! If not, then for the future it is. I hope that when I can update it again after the jam fully ends I can make it as best as possible so it's not frustrating.

I'll be looking forward to the video and review and hearing your insights!! Thank you so much!!
